In addition to Khan, Senator Faisal Javed of the PTI was injured in the shooting. According to reports, Khan has a leg injury and has been taken to the hospital.
Khan has been transferred to Lahore, according to former minister Asad Umar. In total, nine people were injured and one died in the attack. After shots were fired at Khan, chaotic scenes erupted near the PTI's (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) reception camp at Allahwala Chowk in Gujranwala.

An AK-47 was used to shoot the former prime minister in the leg. According to PTI leaders, it was an assassination attempt on Khan.
Former minister and PTI leader Fawad Hussain said in a tweet that the assassination attempt on Imran Khan was well-planned. "...the assassin intended to kill Imran Khan and the PTI leadership, it was not 9 MM, it was a burst from an automatic weapon, no two opinions about that, it was a narrow escape," he claimed.
